Summary of vacancy

Are you currently working in the Energy from Waste, Power Generation, Chemical Production or similar Process industry? Are you qualified in Mechanical, Electrical or Process Engineering?

Play your part in creating green power.

A greener, more environmentally-friendly UK is possible – and we’re making it happen. As a Shift Manager at SUEZ recycling and recovery UK, you’ll be contributing to an ever growing established recycling and recovery company that’s helping customers reduce their impact on the environment, conserve natural resources and reduce landfill. We’ve created Energy from Waste facilities, where waste that would normally go to landfill is used to create energy, offsetting the need for fossil fuels. As a Shift Manager, you’ll be at the heart of one of our innovative facilities, helping to generate electricity from a sustainable source.

What will I be doing as a Shift Manager?

During your shifts, you’ll see that our plant runs smoothly, in line with environmental regulations. It means monitoring operations in the control room, inspecting plant operations and dealing with any problems as they arise. You’ll have a team of shift personnel, (Senior Operations Technician and Operations Technicians) to manage and we’ll expect you to make sure they’re trained and motivated to carry out their roles. As the Senior Authorised Person on site, you’ll be responsible for the facility outside office hours. That means you need to be a capable professional with First Aid and Fire Marshal training.

What are the requirements? (Experience and qualifications)

You will have experience working in a similar power generation or chemical process plant, ideally an EfW facility. You’ll certainly know how they work and a good understanding of any of the following would be advantageous; boilers, incinerators, steam systems and high voltage switchgear (S9/S4). Qualified to HNC level (or equivalent experience) in Mechanical, Electrical or Process Engineering, SUEZ will invest in an extensive training and development program for you, which will involve completing BOAS Cert IBO qualification and NEBOSH General Certificate, if you don’t have them already. Alongside this technical expertise, you’ll have excellent team management skills and the ability to get the best out of people. IT-literate with permit to work systems experience and well-versed in environmental legislation, you’ll be a pivotal member of the team.

Our approach

With a raft of benefits, family-friendly policies and excellent remuneration packages, there’s never been a better time to join SUEZ recycling and recovery UK.

We are proud of our fantastic opportunities for personal growth and development as we continue to build and grow our forward thinking company and you could play a key part in our success.

A friendly and supportive place that you will love to work, we believe creativity, clear communication and our drive for excellence are the keys to our success. We also expect our people to be enthusiastic and responsible. If you share our thinking – and have the qualities we’re looking for – you could play a big part in our dedicated team.

SUEZ recycling and recovery UK, formerly SITA UK, are an equal opportunities employer.
