As a Health & Safety and Technical Training Officer at SUEZ, recycling and recovery UK, you’ll be contributing to an ever growing established recycling and recovery company that’s helping customers reduce their impact on the environment, conserve natural resources and reduce landfill.

What will I be doing as a Health & safety and Technical training officer (South of the UK)?

Working mainly in the south of the UK, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Delivering health & safety training to Suez workforce in an engaging and high quality style - (IOSH managing safely, accident investigation, safety rep training, Safety in Mind training plus other required training interventions).
  • Create traditional and digital learning material including; storyboard, scripting and creation using digital software suite where self-created digital material is identified as the best solution.
  • Identifying H&S/Technical training needs and developing training plans.
  • Supporting the Health & Safety and Technical Training Manager to ensure all Technical and H&S training is aligned to Policy & Procedures.
  • Deputise for the H&S/technical training officer (North) when required.
  • Deputise for H&S and Technical training manager on group projects, committees, meetings and focus groups where appropriate.
  • Liaise with EFW managers and Technical RM’s to ensure training needs are being effectively supported.
  • Carry out multi-level evaluation of training effectiveness and its impact on workplace behaviour, performance and culture.

What are the requirements? (Experience and qualifications)

  • Strong instructional, training and coaching techniques and skills. 
  • Small and large group training delivery skills
  • Supervisor/manager training experience.
  • Proven ability in designing and developing training solutions (inc digital formats)
  • NEBOSH general certificate - desirable
  • Level 4 teaching or Training and development (or equivalent) - desirable
  • Level 3 Management training - desirable
  • SEFW E-ON Training - desirable
  • Low Voltage training S9 (Awareness course)
  • Experienced in Permit-to-Work procedures Issue and Acceptance
  • Senior Authorised Person (SAP) - desirable
  • Experienced in managing Confined Spaces - desirable
  • COSHH Trained
  • Background / Experience - desirable
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a training or instructor role.
  • Experience of delivering group training, one-to-one instruction and coaching
  • 3 years in a high risk/critical H&S environment. - Waste/energy sector experience desirable
  • Extensive knowledge of tailoring and delivering training solutions to meet complex needs, ideally in a - process environment desirable
  • 3 years supervisory/management experience H&S/Technical role - desirable
  • Experience of delivering syllabus courses (e.g. IOSH)
  • Experience of influencing Behavioural Safety through training interventions and courses.
