AS a Belt Press Technician you will be responsible on a 5 day working role basis for operating and monitoring the electrical, mechanical and instrument assets associated with the belt press treatment plant on the Ineos site at Grangemouth.

This is a fixed term contract for 6 months working 40 hours per week.

The Belt Press Technician will be expected to prepare permits, implement operational changes and prepare plant for PM tasks as directed and planned by the Operations and Maintenance Departments of IW.  The Technician will also be expected to use the maximo system to enter maintenance data into a computer based system to record plant data and request maintenance tasks.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Management of health, safety and environmental standards in a petrochemical environmental on a complex multi customer project.
  • Visible leadership on HSE issues at all levels both in the client organisation and within IW.
  • Understand the multi-skilled (EMI) maintenance function in order to complete basic and/or complex maintenance tasks and to work unsupervised with a proactive attitude.
  • Establish and maintain professional relationships with Petroineos personnel, Suez personnel and sub-contractor staff.
  • Identify faults, evaluate rectification measure and make initial recommendations, in order to carry out basic repairs.
  • Gather all systems information and complete plant logs to understand the function and operation of the ETP on the Grangemouth site.
  • Utilising plant information, identify any changes in system performance and/or potential operational problems, evaluate and make initial recommendations to return plant to its optimum operating condition.
  • Development and maintenance of good housekeeping practices.
  • To work unsupervised with a proactive attitude.
  • Ensure procedures are written to reflect working practice and involved in the development and changes required ongoing.
  • Identify and carry out 'on-the-job' training of new personnel.
  • Train alongside the ETP Operators to gain sign off on ETP plant, be available once signed off for emergency shift cover / eventual progression opportunities

Knowledge & Experience:

  • Hands on experience of Belt press / Centrifuge systems.
  • Experience of working directly with sub-contractors / client.
  • To be able to demonstrate through previous work experience, an ability to interpret technical information to affect changes on the plant.
  • Operational knowledge of wastewater treatment plant.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work within a quality system.
  • Ability and knowledge to complete basic repairs and maintenance.
  • A working knowledge of running electro-mechanical plant.
  • Computer literate.
  • Ability to use Maximo an advantage.
