As a Laboratory Technician at DETS, you’ll be part of a team in Consett, that provides a holistic service in the water industry. Derwentside Environmental Testing Services (DETS) specialise in carrying out analytical services in sectors such as environmental, construction, waste, fuel and engineering industries. DETS takes pride in providing high quality services to an accredited environment (UKAS 17025 standards) and over the years they have seen significant year on year growth and market penetration in the above sectors.

As a result of continued growth and expansion, DETS are currently looking for a Laboratory Technician to join our Technical team.

What will I be doing as a Laboratory Technician?

Preparation and extraction of analytical samples and reagents including basic analysis using classical wet chemistry techniques in accordance with laboratory test procedures.

Basic laboratory testing where appropriate.

The Calculation of results.

Ensuring Health and Safety procedures are adhered to.

Ensuring Quality procedures are adhered to.

Data entry into LIMS.

Calibration, equipment and balance checks

Housekeeping, ensuring the laboratory work area is clean, tidy and free from rubbish.

Part of the weekend rota team.

What are the requirements? (experience and qualifications)

No experience necessary if the qualification requirements are satisfied.
