Derwentside Environmental Testing Services (DETS) specialise in carrying out analytical services in sectors such as environmental, construction, waste, fuel and engineering industries. DETS take pride in providing high quality services to an accredited environment (UKAS 17025 standards) and over the years they have seen significant year on year growth and market penetration in the above sectors.

As a result of continued growth and expansion, DETS are currently looking for an experienced Quality Manager to join our team.

About the role

As a Quality Manager at DETS, a part of SUEZ Water Technologies & Solutions, you’ll be part of a team that provides a holistic service in the water industry. We are committed to helping customers reduce their impact on the environment and maximising the return on their investments.

This role is a permanent role working 40 hours per week from Monday to Friday.

What will I be doing?

In the absence of the Directors, will ensure the smooth running of the business both in quality and operationally.

Line Management responsibilities for the Deputy Quality Manager

Main Company contact for UKAS.

Compilation and authorisation of the Company Quality Manual, ensuring the requirements of the manual and International Standards are met on a day to day basis.

Ensure document control of controlled documentation is maintained.

Planning and initiation of audits and reviews.

Manage and expand the current scope of accreditation.

Coordinate Company’s participation in external proficiency testing schemes.

Investigating and reporting on non-conforming work, keeping fully documented and traceable data. Often communicating directly with the clients.

Understand the statistical analysis required to evaluate method validation, measure of uncertainty and other quality control tools.

Act as a catalyst for quality improvements across the company.

What are the requirements?

Applicants must be qualified to Degree in an appropriate discipline.

Experience required: Applicants must have a minimum of five years operational experience of testing in a similar field to the Laboratory, preferably in a supervisory capacity. Knowledge of UKAS requirements and regulations and Quality Management Systems are preferred. Strong understanding of statistics
