As a HR Officer at SUEZ, recycling and recovery UK, you’ll be contributing to an ever growing established recycling and recovery company that’s helping customers reduce their impact on the environment, conserve natural resources and reduce landfill.

About the role

SUEZ UK are looking to recruit a Human Resources Officer to join the Operational Human Resources team, to support our businesses in the South East of England - in particular around the Surrey region.

There will be travel involved with this role, and occasionally you will be required to attend meetings outside of region (only on your working days). 

Reporting to the Senior HR Manager for the South, as part of a team, the HR Officer will provide routine HR advice on all day to day employment issues and work with the Operational teams at all levels to overcome any employment related issues.  This role will support our diverse range of business streams in the region.

  • The successful candidate will be expected to effectively manage all HR related activity -  including disciplinary, grievance, recruitment,  reward, absenteeism and performance management. 
  • Adherence to best practice is critical.
  • This role will be involved in all aspects of the employees’ life cycle and will be key to the success of our business.
  • Providing the Operational teams with HR advice on all employment matters and the sourcing the correct and appropriate response will be a key focus of this role.  
  • In addition you will be expected to pass on your knowledge and best practice to local managers to help ensure maximum self-sufficiency for them.

This is a hands on role, (not purely office based) working out in our business and you will need to ensure that the performance of all employees is effectively managed ensuring that underperformance is addressed and excellent performance is recognised.

In partnership with the Learning & Development department, you will help manage the development of all employees, ensuring that they have the skills and experience to deliver both their current role and be prepared for future roles within SUEZ.

What are the requirements?

  • The successful applicant will have at least 2 years’ experience of managing similar issues, ideally across a multi-site business. 
  • Experience of dealing with employee relations related processes and issues (e.g. Disciplinary meetings, appeals, grievances) is essential, along with a proven track record of success in providing a generalist support service to a diverse regional business. 
  • Ideally you will have a good working knowledge of the relevant Employment legislation.
  • Candidates will require excellent organisational skills and the ability to effectively coordinate multiple activities along with good IT skills including Word, PowerPoint and Excel.

Flexibility & hours

The role is full time, Monday-Friday.  Flexibility is required and given around start and finish times and can be discussed at interview.
