About the role

The role

This is a permanent, full time position.

The working hours will be 07:00 - 17:00 Monday - Wednesday, 07:00 - 17:00 Friday and 07:00 - 13:00 Saturday, for a total of 44 hours per week. Additional hours may be required to cover sickness and busy periods.

The successful candidate will be required to work on other sites within the region to cover holidays and training etc, therefore a full driving licence is essential. SUEZ is committed to the training for the post being advertised and progression of its employees and can offer you the opportunity for future advancement and development within our company.

The rate of pay will be £9.89 per hour, once you have completed the fixed plant training.

A Site Operative position has become available at Greendale Exeter, the post requires the successful person to carry out a wide range of duties including Baler, weighbridge, mobile plant operations as well as the recovery of recycling materials and general site duties

- Carry out instructions issued by the Site Team Leader/Area Supervisor.

- Operate and maintain a variety mobile and fixed plant in compliance with Safe systems of work.

- Maximise the recovery of recycling materials from deliveries to site

- Accurate recording of data from the systems on site,

- Maintaining a tidy site, carrying out general cleaning duties and maintenance

- Ensuring that within their areas of responsibility, SUEZ UK complies fully with its legal duties in respect of the health, safety and welfare of its employees and of other people who may be affected by their actions.

- Co-operating with SUEZ UK and with other employees in order to comply with site permit, all applicable legislation and SUEZ UK’s Policies and Procedures

- Undertaking first aider duties and fire warden duties on site

- Any other duties that are reasonably requested within the scope of the job-role

We are looking for an enthusiastic team player, who will be expected to obtain a full working understanding of the site licence / permit and who will work to ensure site operations exceed the standards required, to maximise recycling. As the post require a variety of tasks to be completed a flexible approach to work is required. The successful applicant will be required to undertake personal development to obtain skills for waste acceptance, maintenance of site equipment, infrastructure and operation of site machinery e.g. loading shovels and Forklift truck. Having basic computer skills for the input and recording of data on SUEZ UK’s weighbridge and reporting systems will also be advantageous.

The successful individual will be in possession of (or be capable of working towards) COTC Level 4 Waste Transfer Hazardous (4TSH) certificate and both IOSH Certificate Managing safety & paper recovery safety.

A full driving licence will also be essential as you will be expected to travel between sites.
