About the role

As a an Environment Risk Advisor  at SUEZ, recycling and recovery UK, you’ll be contributing to an ever growing established recycling and recovery company that’s helping customers reduce their impact on the environment, conserve natural resources and reduce landfill.

  • Assist line management in providing data for the Environment and Industrial Risk Reporting
  • Major Risk Report
  • Providing data to line management in order to facilitate the production of monthly report
  • Assist in the Management and update of the Group IRM -Insurance Risk Management Platform for the UK.
  • Assisting the Environment and Industrial Risk Manager Energy South - be a regional focal point for EIR best practice, providing advice, guidance, support and recommendations to the Energy Management Team (Landfill and Energy Operations) to ensure a process of continual improvement and all activities are undertaken in full compliance with environmental permits, legislation, EIR
  • To ensure we comply with all our statutory and corporate environmental monitoring and reporting requirements through liaison with the report writing team and the regionally based monitoring teams. To investigate significant breaches of environment permits and evaluate the full environment and financial impacts of such breaches.
  • To assist operational teams in the management of defects as identified and to track that defects are rectified appropriately.
  • Ensure completion of Schedule 6 Part A and B notifications and submission to regulator with required timescales for Landfill and liaise with H & S Advisor for Energy Plants.
  • Assist in compiling and submitting annual report to EA and any other report as required by the Environmental Permit.
  • Obtain data from Energy Plants and collate data required for the compilation of the Pollution Inventory Report in February each year.
  • Produce monitoring management plans which accurately reflect regulatory requirements.
What are the requirements?

What are the requirements/qualifications?

  • Degree or equivalent in Environmental Sciences.
  • Professional membership of relevant bodies in order to keep up to date with the latest standards.
  • At least three years' knowledge of Management Systems is essential. Environment permits require all activities to be undertaken to ‘best available techniques’ (BAT) and thus the post holder needs to keep abreast of changes within all activities of the industry and to ensure sustained accreditation to ISO 9000, 14000 and 18000 standards.
  • A detailed understanding of project management approaches. The work requires good project management skills to ensure the correct information is provided within the statutory timescales.
  • Knowledge of legal reporting requirements for example waste return, energy efficiency, permit requirements
