About the role

Reporting to the Head of Project Management, the Project Manager (12 month Maternity cover contract) will be responsible for the delivery of a range of projects through the whole project lifecycle, from the initial concept stage through to implementation, closure and post-project review.

Day to day responsibilities will include:

Managing projects through the defined project lifecycle and governance processes

Working with stakeholders to define project objectives, scope and critical success factors

Supporting the creation of the business case and management of project budgets

Developing project schedules, with clear milestones and critical path

Taking responsibility for successful delivery of projects within agreed time, cost, scope and quality parameters to enable the delivery of the defined benefits

Day to day management of allocated project resources across multiple functions

Ensuring effective controls are in place on projects – e.g. risk and issue management, change control, reporting, etc

Ensuring business change is understood, planned for, delivered and embedded

Implementation and handover to BAU functions, prior to project closure and post project review activities

The Project Manager will also contribute to the definition, establishment and continuous review and improvement of project management processes, techniques and standard documentation and templates.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:

Substantial project management experience gained in complex business environments

Successful project delivery using a variety of different approaches – e.g. waterfall, agile - and flexibility in their approach to delivery

Ability to deliver projects requiring significant business change

Working effectively in a fast moving, uncertain environment

Excellent communication skills (written, spoken and presentation)

Experienced at managing senior stakeholders across the full range of business and technology functions including Executive level

Attention to detail and the ability to analyse and resolve complex, multi-faceted issues in a timely and effective manner

Being a role model in consistently demonstrating professional project delivery performance and behaviours

Prince2 or APM certification, or an equivalent qualification, is desirable but not essential for the role

You will also be collaborative by nature, with the ability to see the bigger picture and be driven by making evidence based decisions.

Experience within the Resource, Recycling or Logistics sectors would be advantageous but is not essential.
