About the role

As a Chemist at SUEZ, recycling and recovery UK, you’ll be contributing to an ever growing established recycling and recovery company that’s helping customers reduce their impact on the environment, conserve natural resources and reduce landfill.

What will I be doing?

Working in a new UKAS 17025 accredited laboratory, your duties will include :

Analysis of steam cycle and incinerator bottom ash samples using instrumental and wet chemistry techniques

Plan and prioritise the workload on a day to day basis to meet customer requirements

To maintain the laboratory’s quality system via quality control charts, proficiency testing, inter laboratory testing, etc

Maintenance of the laboratory’s analytical instrumentation

To investigate instrument faults and failures and remedy any issues to reduce downtime

To play a leading role in analytical method development

To prepare standard solutions for quality control and calibration purposes

Accurately record data and enter onto the laboratories database

Provide internal training on methods and techniques as required

To develop an advanced knowledge of the laboratory’s ISO 17025 Quality Manual and disseminate throughout the team

Work in accordance with Company Policies & Procedures for H&S and Quality as well as the laboratory’s UKAS ISO 17025 accreditation

What are the requirements?

Applicants should be qualified to HNC / Degree level in a chemistry related discipline.

Experience of working to UKAS 17025 standards in the following analytical techniques;

ICP-MS

ICP-OES

Ion Chromatography
